Researching a business idea The question might be little naive but the answer does not propose any constructive idea either (pure sarcasm). |

Forming a new software startup, how do I allocate ownership fairly? @Joel it would be great to expand your example by analyzing the situation when one of the founders leave during the 1st year, the 2 nd year, after the VC gets in etc. Should the shares vesting be bound to milestones? |

Founders' salaries you should use 'add comment' option insteat of answer. Regarding the question, I do not know what was the agreement between you and the investor A. Did you have a lawyer involved in some stage before you got round A fund? If yes this issue probably was addressed in your the agreement. Assuming that you did not take a lawyer you can try to exlpain the situation to the investor A and ask for some additional money. However, technically (IMO, and I am not a lawyer) investor A obligations are complete at this stage. |

I don't think I need funding, should I shop around anyway? If you can manage without funding go ahead! Many enterpreneurs wish they could do it. |

Business of Software mentioning the formula components might be helpful for you in the first place. You would be able to do better analysis and improve different budget estimations. Also you might be asked by VCs (or angels) how exactly did you get this specific number.Sometimes you will find it problematic to recall how exactly the calculation was made (several moths later). |
