Affordable health insurance while founding a startup Its a tragedy that you have to consider such things in a first world country. Having recently left my position at work to begin a startup it is so nice to realize that this issue has never even crossed my mind. I hope you guys get through to your lawmakers cause its an absolute disgrace. |

Choosing between complex or simple business ideas @JoelFriedlaender Thank you Joel, many of your posts on this site have a been a source of inspiration to me. Its nice to see a fellow Melbournian doing well for himself with what looks like a very high quality product! 'Choose one, start building.' - I'm on to it!!! :-) |

Choosing between complex or simple business ideas Almost exactly along the lines of my thinking, sincerely thank you for your input. |

Choosing between complex or simple business ideas PSS: Also I am definitely passionate about some of these ideas more than others but that makes it easier to be plagued by indecision, particularly when your startup ideas haven’t grown organically (which would obviously have been ideal) |

Choosing between complex or simple business ideas Lol, I knew everyone was going to jump on me for quitting before I had picked an idea but what you need to understand was that I was going to continue to make excuses and end up being ‘That guy who spent his life talking about this or that business without ever actually doing anything about it.’ Its too easy to sit on a high income position (even if you’re miserable) and its nearly impossible to make any real decisions until you sit down and really invest some time into it (something I didn’t have the luxury of doing until now). Now I am forced to act! PS: I should also mention that I am 27yo |

To the Coders…what would you consider acceptable terms to join a new start up? As much as you might question the moral side of the statement above it is unquestionably the truth that you need to hear. As a programmer with many years of experience and currently looking to go and start my own enterprise I can assure you I wouldn't for a second consider partnering up with someone who has no immediate value for the company I am attempting to establish. |

Equity when joining an established business Yeah I questioned this myself. Hopefully you'll excuse me asking it but given it is a question about equity distribution and how it can be accomplished fairly I feel like it has some relevance. |

Equity when joining an established business Yes about market rate in this part of the world, perhaps slightly above |
