+1, I really like how you framed the state of mind of the reader, @BMitch. Funny, my first thought while reading was "Who is this person telling others they have or don't have what it takes?". The end of the answer really changes the mindset.

Thanks @Adam. For me, it was the most difficult part to learn; still gives me trouble once in a while when I'm overloaded by tasks.

comment How do I get a job back after a failed startup?
this answer is in a very patronizing tone, @nicolas. I agree with some of the points you make (business doesn't depend on one hire, dedication, etc) but it seems like you're talking him down. He specifically asked for help on how to "get up again", that's more than most people out there would/will do. As always, just my opinion..

comment How to structure the multi-layered(?) blog of a startup
I really like how you want to share knowledge (#4). I'd have each team-member post about something they like, and each post should be signed/posted by them to differentiate from general "news" posts.

I'd like to add that most of your traffic will come from the search engines and newsletters, not direct traffic. So it's crucial that a new visitor knows "where" in the blog he is and what else is available so the explores it. I like how FogCreek Blog works, for example.

Could you please elaborate on how your day job suffers when you work on the startup "after-hours"?

Your title doesn't match the question.. How does it affect what you're asking that the companies have different investors?
