Is hiring average programmers worse than staying solo? From someone who's been there: your issue isn't going to be with the quality of the code an "average" developer will write, but with the amount of direction that developer is going to need to get anything done. You're used to dealing with yourself, making all the decisions, steering the ship. An "average" programmer isn't going to do all that. They are going to do exactly what you ask of them. Nothing more, nothing less. |

How can I separate my personal credit from my business without a lot of hassle? Depends on the bank. Most though are more concerned about your performance than what you called yourself, or how you were setup when you first started. My first company went Sole Proprietor -> LLC -> Corp (with 2 different names along the way) but the bank always recognized the business as "x years old" -- not "2 months old since that is when we did the Inc." Of course you should be able to show financials from day one and PROVE you've been in business for as long as you say. -- Kyle |

Are Any Companies Doing Anything Interesting / Creative / Fun with their Phone System? Wow, thanks for such a thorough answer. I think my question should have been clearer ... I don't want to go nuts will different options, etc. I want the messaging to fit our (still very small) company. Only slightly more sophisticated than "thanks for calling us, please press zero since almost everyone here can answer whatever you are calling about." |

Third-party subscription payment processing like Recurly? I have not used any. I have, however, researched them all and am planning on using chargify in 2011. Chargify is on par feature-wise with zuora and has a simpler pricing model IMO (you don't need to contact a sales rep to get a price). I haven't looked at spreedly in a while. |

Where to Research / Purchase Keyman Insurance Alex, I'm not sure how wanting to comparison shop for an insurance policy has anything to do with the structure of our legal docs or how you could deduce the status of said docs based on me researching insurance companies and gathering quotes. The issues you raised in your comment are covered in some form or another in the docs, the thing that isn't, however, is how either of us will be able to write a seven-figure check to the other's spouse without either selling the company or having insurance. We've been advised to talk to insurance companies and purchase a policy. That is what I'm doing. |
