How much importance do Degrees (study) hold in becoming an Entrepreneur? @Tim Although the site guidelines are not exactly clear about this, many people seem to not downvote only because they disagree. meta.answers.onstartups.com/questions/256/… |

How much importance do Degrees (study) hold in becoming an Entrepreneur? I wonder if it is okay to give negative votes simply because you disagree with the answer. The vote is about a "good answer" or a "bad answer", not "I disagree". |

Dealing with a Slow Developer To add to @Ryan, only about 0.01% of the people who do not have at least 5 years of development experience can make a good decision about the software project time estimate because most do not understand the complexity of the project. |

How to become more of a risk-taker? > it's the decisions that other people make about your future that's risky ------ To mitigate this risk, there can be two kinds of shares the company can issue with different voting rights, much like Google did during its IPO. The point is: there is a right level of risk to achieve success. There is a right way to take risks. |

Should money prevent me from starting a company What exactly makes you say you cannot stand the corporate environment? Can't that be changed? Is it uninteresting to change it? |

How to become more of a risk-taker? I completely disagree. What you see as "risk" is the opportunity. You need to grab the opportunity when it comes. Besides I think you are also confusing between risk and fear of dilution of your stake in the company (see my answer below). |

What fun and low-cost fringe benefits/perks would you offer to employees? An ideal startup team would have no "management" who would need to be "honest". |

What fun and low-cost fringe benefits/perks would you offer to employees? "A bad employee" as you mention indicates something is wrong with the hiring process. It is not about getting rid of the bottom 10%. Good teams would not have any bottom. |

What fun and low-cost fringe benefits/perks would you offer to employees? Oh you are talking about people not being taken into confidence during recession? Or about trying to optimize at the place it hurts the most? |

What fun and low-cost fringe benefits/perks would you offer to employees? As a thought experiment, suppose I joined FogCreek. Now why would I like to go out if I love the company of the folks having lunch there, the lunch usually turns out to be interesting and it is for free? It is just a matter of scheduling my work well so it finishes before lunch time. Occasionally when I have to meet a friend in a restaurant outside on lunch, I'm sure there won't be a doorman stopping me. Some days when I am really busy, I may not join them for lunch. I hope there would be room for that. |
