Worked 13 years for Reuters (now Thomson Reuters) in a variety of roles, including technical support, sales, marketing and project management.

Left Reuters to start Solutionforge, a financial messaging specialist that was acquired by Danish software house SimCorp A/S in 2005. Stayed 4 years, the last two looking after their product architecture strategy.

Left SimCorp at the end of 2009 to start Cornerstone Technology, focusing on algorithmic trading and FIXatdl, releasing Atdl4net in Sept 2010.

comment Changing Licensing model for a Software Framework to more permissive
It would be helpful if you put a link on pages that mention the license terms to the actual Affero license - I couldn't find that anywhere so had to google it, which is a nuisance. In terms of alternative licenses that leave commercial exploitation a possibility, you could look at the RPL (opensource.org/licenses/rpl1.5.txt).

comment Is it worth it to spend money on office space for a software start-up?
A postscript 18 months down the line: I stand by my comments about geting out of the house, but I found that I was spending less than 5 days a month in the office (as I was working on client site and visiting prospects much of the time). In the end, I converted my garage (which is a separate building from my house), and now have a great working environment with no commute, saving myself several thousand a year. If that's an option for you, I can recommend it.

comment what should go in a Memorandum of Association?
Thom - I see what you mean - the form is confusing. The information I included above is from the book which seems to be pretty comprehensive - if you want to handle this all yourself I would recommend getting a copy. Sorry not to be able to offer more definitive info.

comment what should go in a Memorandum of Association?
Thom - I double-checked and you were right, so I've edited my answer to correct the misinformation. In short, you don't need a separate memorandum of association any more to form a UK company.

Whilst not an exact duplicate, this is very similar to this question: answers.onstartups.com/questions/7022/… - some useful insights there too.
