If I attend a hack-a-thon event to work on a prototype, how much ownership do I give up? @Derek: First off, startups aren't a spectator sport. If you're attending an event, don't spectate (some don't even allow visitors) but work on someone else's team. As for equity, there isn't anything standard: it all depends on the quality & the amount of work done + team chemistry. |

Consulting while working I guess you've missed this part: "Please avoid: Wide open questions. Don't write a sentence and expect to get a page back. A question like "How can I sell more of my product" deserves an encyclopedia article. Try to scale back to something more specific." Moreover, if you're working in highly-regulated market & are soliciting advice, you should explain what's allowed & not allowed in that market. |
