comment Was there ever a startup website that didn't require the help of angel investors?
@MikeNereson , I called it "startup website" before because I was more of after websites rather than startups under another topic or line of work. I guess I may be looking for sites that offers services and / or online communities. I can't really put my finger on it so I can't define exactly how I'm thinking it.

comment Are there commercial cross-platform desktop software that are deployed via zip file with no installer (just let user extract and run)?
And also, have you tried to look at izPack (izpack.org) and / or PackJacket (packjacket.sourceforge.net/features) ?

Well as far as I know, only Windows has batch file support so you might want to look up AppleScript for Mac and shell scripting for for Linux. Another thing that I guess I can tell is that Mac users are used to extracting files from archives. On the Mac, we don't typically have installers for applications. We simply extract it from the archive or mount the DMG (DMG is like an ISO in Windows) and copy the application from there to the apps folder.

I didn't know that angel investors don't provide large budgets. I thought the reason why they're called "angel" is because they pretty much become a business' angel lol. Sorry for making my statement a bit broad. And yeah, I guess you can consider Minecraft as an example of a budget-less startup. I will keep the question open for a few more moments just in case someone posts a hefty list of other startups other than Minecraft and Angrybirds. I wanted to up vote your post but I needed 15 rep for it so yeah.
