However, there's tremendous resistance to change here, so I guess it's time to say "fuck it" and ask my question elsewhere.

Please help, I am a geek and this is new to me @ZulyGonzalez: my point is that by closing questions you are destroying information or preventing new useful information from being created. Why? Just to follow the rules? Anyway, I've had long debates on similar issues, e.g. wanton deletion of questions with hundreds of upvotes and I have no hope whatsoever that you will stray from a deletionist stance into a reasonable one.

But if you really want to be a stickler, go close this question, this one and the many others that have produced useful answers from the community.
