Using Adwords for research so far no one signed up - but then again, although the CTR is around 2%, i only collected about 20 clicks on the best themes. I am thinking now to focus on these best themes, and on the landing page have a few links, eg for visitors of type A, of type B etc. they will click and i will get some idea of who they are. |

Using Adwords for research Thanks Giles. I actually want to have a conversation with them, understand who they are, what they are after - see if the whole opportunity is worth pursuing. |

I made a product, now how can I find customers? Perhaps more accurately he built a prototype. Potential customers won't talk to you unless you have something to show. So now that he has something to show, the next step is to find someone to show it to. |

Should I offer referral fee to consultants? Thanks Joseph, this is mighty helpful |

Should I offer referral fee to consultants? The discussions I noticed on the Internet are both ways - some consultants claim they will never do it, others are ok with it. Given that I will be introducing myself with this offer, ie "hey guys, would you like this", I want to avoid obvious pitfalls. When I noticed the negative comments about referral fees I thought, "oops, didn't think of that" |

Should I offer referral fee to consultants? Thanks jnorthrop, you are right, i tend to get ahead of myself. My problem is that I don't know personally any of them - there is no one in this group that I could talk to. |

What is a good way of promoting new software on tight budget? Not clear how this helps targeting owners of repair shops; you cant make any meaningful assumptions about their demographics or likes and dislikes |

What is a good way of promoting new software on tight budget? Pierre, can you promote an online program in software directories? I thought they are just for downloadable programs. |

Is SMB a more difficult market to target than other segments? try it from another angle: what pain in a business does your software cure? Example: a rostering software helps create optimal shift schedules. Even though it is not narrowed down to an industry, you can use this definition to research keywords for search engine marketing. Or another way: within a business, there are departments of admin, HR, finance, marketing, production, fulfillment, customer service. Where does your software sit? |

Are Microsoft and Google dead, or is Roger McNamee wrong? Pls ignore previous post. Business market roughly equals consumer, just like two sides of the coin. When consumer dominates economy, we get debt problem like now in the Western world. So business software market should be roughly equal consumer. Consumer stuff just made a major advance, so business should follow, like we walk - first one foot, then the other. A prime example of business software taking advantage of consumer internet is hubspot, where Dharmesh is working. |

Are Microsoft and Google dead, or is Roger McNamee wrong? It is not about LinkedIn vs FB. Business software is hidden from view but it exists and it is very data-intense. What we know is FB, Google, LinkedIn all live off advertising. So, we conclude, there are businesses that benefit from this. |
