Any examples of “positive feedback” startup ideas for production companies? I guess I don't understand the point of your question, then. There appear to be no examples of what you're looking for; even the magnifying glass -> sand -> lens process you used as your example is not the process used to manufacture magnifying glasses. |

Referring to one-man-company: use “we” or “I”? One day you might hire someone. Do you really want to find every document/page/etc you've created and change the pronoun? Didn't think so. Use "we." |

Can I have an LLC while still working for an employer? Be careful both about non-compete clauses in your contract and, perhaps more importantly, intellectual property clauses. It's common for companies to claim any and all intellectual property during the term of your employment, so if your business becomes valuable they could have a claim on it. |

What has been the most surprising challenge of doing a start up? You may think you're prepared for this. You'll probably be surprised anyway. Unless you're emotionally ready to choose between walking away from the company you've nurtured for years and having someone you love walk away from you, you'll be surprised by how hard this balance can be. (It may not get that bad -- probably won't get that bad -- but it can, and does, and it's always that level of hard.) |
