GPL licensing of a GPL licensed product with a commersial version If some funtionality is separated in libraries, can I not make these libs open source in a paid versions? They will be no more than an add-ons to a Product A, that extend it's functionality. |

GPL licensing of a GPL licensed product with a commersial version I've updated the question with some details. The thing is - I live in Ukraine - as well as my business will be here. We have an army of lawyers, but almost none are even slightly familiar with software licensing questions. I've asked two so far. Of course I am trying to avoid having western laywers engaged in the process since it will cost a lot and won't fit into a business plan for the initial year. P.S. Now they list GPL v2 as a lisense for communitiy edition. |

How to determine the monetization sources of a startup web service Ok, shopping list is a "hit" monetization possibility for such service. Thank you. I will try to teach myself to see such opportunities right a way myself. |

Security as a monetization option I haven't looked at their paid offers. Will take a look now. Thanks. |

Security as a monetization option Yes, I am sure Dropbox is a profitable company. They have changed their web-interface recently. It is now very professional-looking and sleek. It takes a collaboration of a well-motivated team to push something that clean to the market from my perspective, therefore I make a conclusion, that they are "in a very good standing" that makes everyone in the company fell good and therefore produce good results. |

Security as a monetization option Well, I am not afraid of sounding dull - how does Dropbox makes money, since most of his costumers are free riders? I don't know how I am going to make money off of the free one's, probably by introducing nice (not text) ads on free page as well. But I really don't want to do it, since any adds just make a page look like trash. I'll have to think it through. |

Camel notation in company name It's not about English language, it is about branding and the way a company name is written. I doubt language enthusiasts could provide more expertise on this meter, then business-oriented people of OnStartups. |

Do websites with pictures of people on the first page make the company look more “human” Thank you. The question was more of a form: If I only have 3 people in a company, can I make anything good out of showing us three, or am I better off without human pics until we get more massive and have stuff to show. |

One or two companies Surely client projects are required only until the companies own products pays everyone's salaries. And until then, they get the priority as of human resources and management attention. My question was essentially: If twitter would suddenly need money not from investors, but from a market, would it harm their image if they were to go around asking for work? |

One or two companies I am not sure that I have understood your answer correctly, so I would like to clarify: You do confirm, that one company can do both. But since the product development is a final goal, I shouldn't advertise much of our software development outsourcing offers, right? |

One or two companies In reality - one company can successfully do both, product development and outsourcing for others. It is still a software development after all. The difference is only where you get an idea, and as a result - software requirements. The only thing that is different, from my point of view, is marketing. |

One or two companies In a sentence: "typical path of using client projects to finance in-house product development and its promotion", what do you mean, when you say "client projects"? How would I get those client projects? Are they not the same essentially, as to be an outsourcing providers for other companies? |
