Partner leaving at an idea-stage start up @littleadv it's not the same thing, the winklvoss had a somewhat working POC at the time, they showed that they have contacted mark and he didn't respond, if anything - that case only makes the OP's case a stronger one. |

How can I provide web app framework as a service and keep its source disclosed? why would people pay for this when they have ALOT of great, maintained open source projects with great domain knowledge? |

Developing VCVC.net or LongKeywordRichDomain.com @frenchie same could be said on your usage patterns, where does that get us? nowhere. the idea here that brand names are important, that's why the url for amazon is amazon.com and not thebiggestecommercesiteintheworldyipeeyipee.com |

Developing VCVC.net or LongKeywordRichDomain.com that's undervaluing domain names... I type domain names ALL THE TIME... facebook, google, dropbox, 9gag, stackoverflow, etc. |

How much equity for co-founder reducing role for academic program? it sounds to me they're trying to squeeze you out after you've done most of the work, considering no sales were made and no funds were raised while you built the entire product, that's damn impressive and sounds like 33% is an insult considering your other options so 8% is a slap in the face. If you don't have legal documents signed with them, I'd be very hesitant on providing them the code. |

How do I develop my idea for a web app while lacking resources and development drive? The core code of your business will be replaced when you reach a certain size, that's something which happens, even more than that - the data-structures itself could change, now - you could build your code for 10's of millions of people beforehand and never ship, or you could build a good-enough version and yes, implement some mathematical functions in php which would work super fast in erlang - but unfortunately it complicates your architecture alot! sometimes you just gotta ship. |

How do I develop my idea for a web app while lacking resources and development drive? Joel, it's important and you do need to choose the right tool for the task at hand, but it's not what should be stopping you from developing something, most of what you'll build will be discarded anyway when speaking of a new venture. |

What disadvantages are there if I have 45% of the share? Considering that in today's world a great technical lead is so hard to find and they're paid very highly compared to marketing/business people in an already successful venture, I wouldn't say that's right, but maybe that's because I come from the technical side. |

What is more important: Uniqueness of Idea or Marketing? when it came out in 98, it blew the competitors away, the brand as it is today - is pretty irrelevant @TimJ - when the iPhone came out in 2008 - it WAS the best phone to date and most robust. |
