Hello there I was just wondering if anybody can advise me on the following. I am a designer that can design and create a broad range of garments from swimwear and underwear to ball gowns and suits. I am looking to create a few different labels in umbrella like formation to give each brand its own identity. This will be a gradual thing but i don't want all my brands having the same name. I am looking to register them under my main company name but is it possible to do that? Should I just register my main company or all of the brands individually and link them? I am a complete newbie at this and welcome any help.

Any company can own as many trademarks as it wants. Just like the Coca-Cola company owns both Coke and Sprite trademarks, you can create one company that creates, owns, and registers as many brands as you want.

You might find it prudent to compare your prospective branding with existing trademarks searchable here:

A common approach is to use a theme that can connect the different labels. By checking the availability of various names in advance, you might be able to focus on a common theme.

Good luck.
