We sell pickles imported from India to US households. Recently we were approached by a distributor, who wants to sell our pickles to some big stores located in various parts of the US. The distributor told me that when needed he will buy the UPC Codes for us and add the charge to his cost. As we do not know have any knowledge in barcoding, I need help from someone who has a good knowledge in this.

To get your own bar code with your own company identifier you need to become a member here http://www.gs1us.org/ I think it costs about $750 US. They'll give you an identification code that you can use to generate your own bar codes. If you just need a single bar code and you want it cheaply then you go some place like this: http://www.buyabarcode.com/ They have their own identifier and re-sell you a barcode out of their lot. The only downside is the identifier portion won't point to your company. That may not matter since usually they just want a bar code so they can uniquely identify your product. |
