I run a gaming clan and we are planning on host a 24 hour game a thon where we will be collecting donations for St. Judes and Wounded Warrior through PayPal... My question is if the donators can still write it off on their taxes? We are only middle men, collecting the donations and then dispersing them at the end of the event. Whats the best way to do this?

Depends on the amount of donations, the IRS might require explicit receipts from the organization. You might want to check with an accountant how to manage fundraisers. It would be best if the checks are written directly to St. Judes, and you just collect them. – littleadv Oct 1 '12 at 18:11

You should contact those charity organizations to ask for their help with this. – TimJ Oct 2 '12 at 14:54
