I am Starting an E-commerce marketplace , my website is under the design process as of now, at this stage should I approach shipping companies asking them to partner with us to provide fulfillment services for our vendors , or should I wait till the website is completed and live ?

Also can you give me some tips as to how I can bargain with them for better rates for fulfillment services?

Thanks!

Are you shipping stuff, or are your vendors shipping stuff? – DJClayworth Aug 23 '12 at 16:26
The vendors on the site will be shipping the goods – Stanford Sequeira Aug 23 '12 at 16:33
Wouldn't it be better to let them choose their shipping method? – DJClayworth Aug 23 '12 at 16:34
Yes but in this case i need to tie up with shipping company for Cash on delivery purpose . since I will be collecting payment , deducting commission & then paying the vendor – Stanford Sequeira Aug 23 '12 at 20:13

It is better to wait till your site will be ready . But for you not to waist time, you can create the list of potential shipping companies, that might be interested in cooperation with you.

How about some reasons for your answer? – Karlson Jan 17 at 19:29
Simply: You don't have anything to show them so when there are literally dozens or hundreds of things on their agenda, why should they spend time with you? You don't have anything to offer them.. yet. Once you have something to show them - or better, cash on the table - it's a different discussion. – CaseySoftware Feb 16 at 16:28
