If some already owns a corporation, can he create and run another one at the same time?

Yes, of course. This is like asking "Can a person own shares in more than one company?", and the stock market wouldn't function very well if the answer was no.

I don't think Mike was admonishing your question. I think he was just pointing out the logic of his answer. (Also, considering Canada's seemingly antagonistic attitude towards wealth and entrepreneurship...I wouldn't be surprised if the answer had gone the other way.
