I have always been curious as to how these sales reps, despite competition can secure deals worth a lot.
How does this process work? Do they just call and ask for the marketing department and give them pitches?
Like do they call up Ford, and say that would you like to advertise for $$$ amount? If Ford has an ad agency, does this mean that they would have to call the ad agency to try advertise? Why would an ad agency not go with the established players instead of the smaller companies?
I understand the the term is "Accounts". Would one just say yes, I can start for such and such amount?
Example
How would a company that advertises on the side of the buses find clients? Would they call up Ford, or would they call up the ad agency that handles such things. What about those ads on the side of the benches?
Or for that matter, how would do these billboard companies find these advertisers. I assume they work with the ad agency, if the company doesnt have it, does it mean they work directly with the marketing person at said company?
