Answers OnStartups is a question and answer site for entrepreneurs looking to start or run a new business. It's 100% free, no registration required.

For nearly a year, a co-developer and I spent the majority of our time working on a fitness tracking website. We created some neat functionality, but had no idea what we were doing in many other respects. We're now busy with other ventures. The site has about 4000 users.

What can we do with this website? We'd be interested in either selling it or potentially giving it away / transferring it, but it's important any solution isn't too time consuming.

With 4000 users how are you not making money from ad sales? I use fitday.com and don't mind their ads. I login daily to update my progress – Anagio Feb 25 '12 at 3:45
Why not KEEP it? If you're not involved in the development anymore then just let it ride. 4,000 (active??) users is a sign of value and it might be premature to think of an exit just when you have something that's just starting to gain some form of traction. And consider putting ads, to pay for the server cost. – frenchie Mar 3 '12 at 23:52

Consider asking your users/community if they want to take it over.

For a non-time consuming sale it has to be Flippa.com

Best site to sell a website on – Anagio Feb 25 '12 at 3:44
Contact the people @ Bodyrock.tv, they are having people post things on facebook and the comments of their website. Sounds almost like a match made in heaven. – Mark0978 Feb 29 '12 at 17:40
