We are a .net development team in India, and we are looking for outsourcing work. But how to get such work, and how to represent in the market of software development? How should we approach clients and establish trust with out any work history? Any suggestion would be great and helpful.

That doesn't really count as a startup. If you are good, and have a reputation, it'll be trivial to get work via referrals. – Steve Jones Dec 12 '11 at 8:40
We are good but almost many clients need work history, so that's my question is, is there any way we can get start up work ? you r right i will start talking to my references first, that's i must do. – KuldipMCA Dec 14 '11 at 6:24
But then, stuents should not work freelance. And yes, "no work history" means never worked professinally in programming. Nothing else. – NetTecture Dec 14 '11 at 6:57
ok fine I have working experience but not work in professional manner in the open market means no client handling experience.I am sorry for that statement of "work history". – KuldipMCA Dec 14 '11 at 9:05

How should we approach clients and establish trust with out any work history?

Simple: don't. Get a job. Get a profile, get a name, get a work history.

There are ton of bad consultants around. Why should I hire one who does not even have any work history? You sound more like someone who should get a job as a programming trainee, instead of opening a consulting company.

We have work history but not as independent, but work in company. I have 6 years of exp. in .net. I am strong in Microsoft technology. – KuldipMCA Dec 14 '11 at 6:26
So why do you say you have no work history then? Realize that running a business means marketing yourself. Btw., 6 years makes you not junior, but not senior. – NetTecture Dec 14 '11 at 6:57

How NOT to do it :-

How to fail at freelancing in 5 easy steps

  1. Send out a Canned Proposal

  2. Send that Canned Proposal within the first 20 minutes

  3. Don't Read the Project Description

  4. Don't, under any circumstances, write any text specific to the project at hand

  5. Quote an exact dollar figure
