Answers OnStartups is a question and answer site for entrepreneurs looking to start or run a new business. It's 100% free, no registration required.

We're looking a a recurring billing and subscription management service. I've narrowed it down to Spreedly and Subscription Bridge. Spreedly is a bit bare bones but pretty easy to use. And they seem to have been around longer and have the kinks ironed out.

Subscription Bridge is about the same price ($50/m if we use their gateway) and has the following benefits (which spreedly does not):

  • Management console for the customer
  • Configurable email templates
  • Reporting on Subscriptions

Since Subscription Bridge is a bit new, I've love to hear from existing customers.

We're currently using Spreedly, but we're planning on switching services within the next month or so. Spreedly plus PayPal runs us about $80/month. We think we're going to go with Stripe. They've been around for a while, but just recently added recurring billing. I suggest looking into Stripe if you haven't already. – Zuly Gonzalez Nov 8 '11 at 3:30
Turns out Subscription bridge has some show stoppers for us (which I think they are finally changing). Like, you couldn't include a single click link to Cancel your subscription. You had to copy your ID (which is in the email) and then click a link in the email and paste the ID.). – ClayNichols Feb 29 '12 at 15:35
@Clay - I totally understand your point about skipping the login page on the Customer Center, and recall that was a big show stopper for you. We appreciated your feedback and eventually we did implement a "deep linking" feature to eliminate the login step. I just want to mention for other readers that it was a security concern. You could always cancel via one click using our API. However, the links in the emails required you to log into the customer center using your email or subscription number. We always listen to our customers and do our best to implement their ideas. The idea of having dir – user18562 Jun 27 '12 at 6:34

What about recurly? Dunning management seems pretty solid.
If you need something more complex that deals with multiple channels, consider Aria systems.

Sadly, I'd have to say I would not, at least at this time.
