How do I find a lawyer to setup an offshore company (possibly Cayman Islands)?

The startup company is in San Jose, California.

Why do you think an offshore company is what you need? 99% of the time it's not. – Jason Colantuoni Oct 29 '11 at 8:36

Maples & Calder is one of the best firms in the Caymans; I forget the others.

Do NOT set up a company yourself- there are all sorts of tax and other requirements, and the earlier in a company's life that a mistake is made, the more serious the potential consequences.

I have setup an IBC my self in Belize, directly through Belize Bank. There is no need for a lawyer to fill out a very simple form and mail it for you. Here is the link

If it's just a company you want started a lawyer will be very expensive. Search for off shore company formation on google. (I use SFM offshore based out of Geneva).

SFM offers IBC's in Belize and an insane premium and as I pointed out you can get one directly from Belize Bank for hundreds cheaper. This is site is like any other they charge a premium to do the work for you just like a layer when you can do it directly in any country. It's a waste of money and risk in my opinion to deal with such companies. It's much easier and cheaper to do it on your own. – Anagio Dec 29 '12 at 12:05
