I'm considering starting up a website that I could eventually turn into a business. The domain name that seems most obvious is, naturally, taken. I'm considering going with a non-obvious domain name (like how hover.com is a domain name registrar, even though hovering has nothing to do with registering domains or how google is practically meaningless by itself).
Are there downsides to having a nonsensical name for your site? Would it be better to have a longer compound name? Perhaps there is no real answer to this question, in that case should I just not worry about the name? What are the upsides (no confusion with other brands maybe)?
I'd consider obtaining-the-perfect-domain-name to be similar but not a duplicate.
