I have established an LLC online, but I've been told I need to by law, advertise the LLC's existence in a local/national newspaper. Is this true?

It doubtless depends what jurisdiction you're in, which you've not included. – Mike Scott May 24 '11 at 15:48

I suggest that you call IRS small business department. Their answer will certainly be the best answer (and it will depend on the type(s) of your business activities).
