Answers OnStartups is a question and answer site for entrepreneurs looking to start or run a new business. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I've recently been looking into getting funding for my startup (we're building a web-based social platform). I've looked into www.kickstarter.com and it looks pretty cool however it is only open to US startups.

Does anyone know if there is any websites like KickStarter which allows funding to non-US people?

@Rob posted a great list here: answers.onstartups.com/questions/24504/… – Joseph Barisonzi May 20 '11 at 15:55
There are many angel networks but these tend to be localised. Where are you based @Pacerier? – edralph May 20 '11 at 16:02

I think the most popular outside the US is http://www.indiegogo.com/

i actually like that site. However the problem is that my team is looking for a funding of at least 30k.. and the funds listed in that website are only about 1-2k – Pacerier May 20 '11 at 12:57
@Pacerier: then you don't need kickstarter but a Business Angel – user3997 May 20 '11 at 14:01

the get involved page is only for investors.. – Pacerier May 21 '11 at 19:40
About a month ago it was still open for application. – Sean May 22 '11 at 2:21

Crowdfunding in Europe:

All those links are investor related, for those who are willing to share their company rather than ask for money (like Kickstarter do)

edit: Now (late 2012), Seedmatch is for more than 100k due to changes in the contract.
