How can I get Facebook information about the number of times people shared or liked a website? and how reliable is the information?

Your question isn't quite clear. Are you talking about your own site, or data for other sites on the Internet? "Like" works on pages, is it on a per-page basis, or summarized data of Likes per domain? – Jesper Mortensen May 7 '11 at 7:32

Use Sharedcount like this: http://sharedcount.com/?url=http://answers.onstartups.com (replace the url param with the url you want to track.

If you just want facebook shares, you can use the facebook graph api: http://graph.facebook.com/?ids=http://answers.onstartups.com

Again, just replace the url parameter with the one you want info on.
