Are there any FCC rules and regulations for a bluetooth device built in another country but schematics and designs belonging to the company here in the US? Is there some kind of inspection one must go thru for new EE designs?

I would expect that as long as you meet the regulations regarding power, frequency, interference, etc, then where it is made doesn't really matter. – James Black Apr 10 '10 at 2:45

Are you selling or using the device(s) in the US? If so they must meet FCC wireless regulations. See: http://wireless.fcc.gov/index.htm?job=rules_and_regulations

What if we used a bluetooth module by a third party provider? Then we dont have to need approval from the FCC because the module should already have been approved? – vnchopra Apr 10 '10 at 9:01
All RF devices used or sold in the US must meet FCC regulations. If the device from a third party has been approved it will have an FCC number on a sticker or in its documentation. – Gary E♦ Apr 10 '10 at 16:00
